Job Overview – Stores Person

The Stores Person is responsible for the efficient and secure management of aircraft parts, tools, and consumables within the maintenance stores at European Cargo Limited. This role supports the engineering and maintenance teams by ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, issuance, and tracking of materials and equipment in accordance with aviation regulatory standards and company procedures. The Stores Person plays a vital role in maintaining aircraft airworthiness and operational readiness through timely and compliant parts support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, inspect, and log incoming aircraft parts, materials, and consumables in accordance with regulatory and company procedures.
  • Accurately update inventory management systems, ensuring traceability of all items, including batch numbers, shelf life, and certification documents (e.g., EASA Form 1, UK CAA Release).
  • Store materials in appropriate conditions and locations, ensuring segregation of serviceable, unserviceable, and quarantined items.
  • Issue and dispatch parts and tooling to engineers and line stations, ensuring proper documentation and authorisation.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels by conducting regular cycle counts and stock audits.
  • Arrange and monitor shipments and deliveries with freight providers and couriers.
  • Ensure tools are issued, tracked, and calibrated according to maintenance requirements and tool control procedures.
  • Manage the return of unserviceable or expired items to vendors, OEMs, or repair agencies.
  • Assist with AOG (Aircraft on Ground) logistics and urgent part sourcing when required.
  • Keep stores areas clean, organised, and compliant with health, safety, and airworthiness standards.
  • Support inventory forecasting and reordering based on usage trends and stock minimums.
  • Liaise with maintenance planners, engineers, and procurement teams to coordinate material availability.
  • Assist in maintaining proper documentation for audits and regulatory inspections (EASA/CAA Part 145/Part M).
  • Support internal and external audits by providing access to records, certificates, and traceability documents.
  • Carry out local deliveries or collections using company vehicles if required (subject to license).
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects related to logistics and inventory management.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience in an aircraft stores, logistics, or warehouse environment (preferred).
  • Experience working under aviation regulations (Part 145, Part M, or Part CAMO) is highly desirable.
  • Use of inventory management systems such as RAIDO, AMOS, TRAX, or similar.

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge:

  • Basic understanding of aircraft parts classifications and certification requirements (e.g., Form 1, FAA 8130-3).
  • Knowledge of aviation stock control, shelf-life tracking, and tool control processes.
  • Awareness of airside safety and handling procedures (advantageous).

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
  • Good IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and stock management software.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle heavy parts or equipment safely.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Forklift license or experience operating MHE (desirable).
  • Valid UK driving licence (if local driving duties required).
